Mere has developed from it's earliest mentions in the Doomsday Book into one of Cheshire's finest private membership and corporate hospitality venues.
The championship standard parkland course, designed by Open Champions James Braid and George Duncan in 1934 was opened in 1935. It is set around the Mere (meaning lake), after which the course is named and provides some of the most challenging holes in professional golf.
There are extensive health, fitness and leisure facilities on site and recent expansion and redevelopment of the site has added large scale conference, banqueting and boardroom facilities.
LOCATION
Directions from the North
M6 - junction 20 (Lymm junction). Take the M50 towards Macclesfield. Across mini round about (services on RHS) and continue straight down this road for approximately 4 miles. At first set of traffic lights, the entrance to Mere Golf and Country Club is straight ahead.
Directions from the South
M6 - Junction 19. Take the A556 (right) towards Altrincham and Manchester Airport. Less than one mile on the RHS is the entrance to Mere Golf and Country Club. Get in the right hand lane approaching the double set of traffic lights. Do not turn first right towards Knutsford, but continue towards a gap in the central reservation and turn right into archway before next lights.
Directions from Manchester or Stockport
M56 - Junction 7. Take the A556 filter, following Tatton Park signs. Approximately one mile first set of traffic lights, Swan Hotel on LHS, continue straight across (not in Tatton Park). At the next set of lights aproximately 3/4 mile, turn sharp left into Mere Golf and Country Club entrance.
