WOBURN GOLF CLUB
Woburn Golf & Country Club, has been the home of many professsional championships and has a roll of honour equalled by few. Set on the edge of the Woburn estate, its woodland courses, appropriately named the Marquess, Dukes and Duchess are three of the finest courses in the country.
The Marquess Course
The Marquess has opened to some great reviews from throughout the golf world. The venue of the 2001 British Masters, this course is simply fantastic. A trip to Woburn is not complete without a game on the Marquess Course.
The Dukes Course
Before the opening of the Marquess Course the Dukes had been the home of the British Masters for many years as well as other top men's and women's professional events. The course designed by Charles Lawrie in 1974 meanders through pine, silver birch and chestnut trees.
The Duchess Course
It may seem slightly shorter in length than the Marquess and Dukes, but don't be deceived, the Duchess Course is cut from more formal pine forest. Its rolling fairways and subtle contours are deceptively landscaped to test the golfers full repertoire of strokes.
All three courses are some 460 feet above sea level with superb views across the county and the free draining, sandy sub-soil ensures perfect playing conditions for most of the year.
